The NAIT Dental Health Sciences Programs have an opening for a full-time Dental Clinical Services Supervisor (Educational Laboratory Technologist Ill). Reporting to the Department Head, the Dental Clinical Services Supervisor will provide leadership and supervision to a team of educational technologists, while providing efficient operations of the dental programs. The successful candidate will ensure quality and safety in the dental laboratories and clinics while performing Educational Technologist duties. Candidates for this position should have well developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. They should be dedicated to providing support services to internal and external customers and be self-motivated, work within established policies, and work cooperatively as a team member.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the daily operations of the educational technologist team within the dental laboratories and clinics
  • Develop, implement and update process to ensure effective and efficient operations
  • Assess, recommend and oversee the purchasing of lab supplies and equipment, equipment repairs, and the ongoing development and updating of laboratory documents
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among technical and instructional staff
  • Prepare, set-up, and dismantle instructional equipment and supplies for use by academic staff
  • Assist academic staff by monitoring students in providing a clean, safe work environment for patients, fellow students and staff in the dental clinic, dental labs and the business office
  • Maintain, assess, and troubleshoot clinical and laboratory dental equipment to manufacturers’ standards in compliance with program specifications and report or perform minor/major repairs as required
  • Demonstrate the use of laboratory and clinical equipment, as required
  • Provide general operating and maintenance support to the dental programs
  • Maintain storage and supply areas for the dental programs
  • Order supplies and consumable items using PeopleSoft Financial System and maintain related inventory records and control
  • Manage and control the scheduling of patients for the Denturist and Dental Assisting programs using a dental management software program and monitor patient records
  • Orientate and monitor students in the policies and procedures of the dental patient business area (when required)
  • Receive payment from patients for dental services provided (when required)
  • Other related duties as required

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • This position requires strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and support a group of technologists to ensure delivery of educational labs for the academic programs. This position requires knowledge in denturist and dental equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and dental procedural understanding. The candidate requires proficient computer skills and the use of Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience in post-secondary education
  • Be able to lift up to 25 kilograms (35 pounds) as supplies and equipment lifting will be required

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade twelve
  • Licensed with an allied health regulatory body or health related diploma.
  • Preference may be given to a graduate from a recognized Denturist or Dental Technology program who is registered with the College of Alberta Denturists or the College of Dental Technologists of Alberta
  • A minimum of 5 years recent dental industry experience

 

Remuneration: $2,230.68 - $2,975.21 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Educational Laboratory Technologist III – AUPE).

This position is covered by the AUPE (Alberta Union of Provincial Employees) Collective Agreement.
