Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Paul Menton Centre (PMC), the incumbent is responsible for collaboratively and iteratively planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating instructional design projects associated with online, hybrid and face-to-face courses and programs. The eLearning Development Coordinator is also responsible for efficiently coordinating multiple projects, including the Ventus accommodation management system project.

The eLearning Development Coordinator accomplishes these tasks by working closely and collaboratively with PMC leadership, disabilities coordinators, and staff to understand their courses’ significant learning and instructional goals of courses and projects designed to serve students with disabilities and advance accessibility goals. Using this information, the eLearning Development Coordinator will use appropriate and current instructional design approaches to design and implement a comprehensive project plan to address the desired learning and instructional goals. This instructional design project plan includes the design of mediated learning activities, the organization and structuring of content, the recommendation of assessment strategies, and the overall instructional and accessible learning approach including the appropriate selection, application, support of educational technology.

The eLearning Development Coordinator serves in a project management role for PMC’s work to develop and implement Ventus, a new client management system to be used by PMC and Scheduling & Examination Services. In this capacity the incumbent will coordinate various IT related activities, such as organizing PMC staff to participate in system testing at various stages of Ventus development, as well as working collaboratively with staff to design, develop, and implement tools as a part of the PMC’s Ventus Change Management Strategy.

The eLearning Development Coordinator will have a solid background in developing online courses, excellent project management skills and excellent ability to use multiple Learning Management Systems.


Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Have in-depth knowledge of instructional design, course design, learning theories, educational technologies, and accessible design.
• Demonstrate significant understanding of the principals of adult and technology mediated pedagogy.
• Experience and expertise with a variety of multimedia authoring applications, Learning Management Systems and educational technology tools.
• Effective project facilitation and organizational skills, along with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, as well as good judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, tact and discretion are essential.
• Possess the ability to work under pressure and a remain on task when addressing learning programs with complex and challenging requirements.
• Adaptability and attention to detail will be the key to this position, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.


Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• A Masters degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Adult Education or related field is preferred.
• Five years of relevant and current work experience in instructional design, accessible design, educational technology support, or other field related to e-learning, preferably in educational settings.
• Teaching experience is a Higher Education environment is preferred.
