Working for the Department/Faculty 

The Dining Services Coordinator is a part of the Dining, Leasing & Conference Services team in a supporting role with a focus on Dining Services (Residential & Retail Dining).

Position 

This position supports the Dining Services team by carrying out the activities required to gather, analyze and disseminate the information required to deliver the mandates of the business unit. A specific example would include gathering ONECard transaction data along with reporting and analyzing findings of this data on a regular basis. The primary focus of this position is to collect data and compile reports as they relate to Dining Services, and provide analysis and recommendations to the Director, Dining, Leasing & Conference Services. This position requires a more strategic and insular approach to support the unit. This position also requires significant interaction with students, guests, clients, various departments throughout the portfolio as well as external partners and stakeholders.

Duties 

  • Provides variance analysis and reporting in order to support food services contractor invoicing; reconciles this information as required 
  • Data analysis and creation of data summary reports from meal plans, retail operations, and one card purchases for all University of Alberta North campuses. These reports are prepared for the Director, Dining, Leasing & Conference Services (DL&CS) 
  • Uses multiple systems as it relates to hospitality services financials in order to obtain and reconcile data and financial information (HMS, AiM, SupplyNet) and develops processes and procedures in order to improve the workflow of the department 
  • Creating change orders for maintenance, purchase orders and managing equipment inventory
  • In collaboration with Marketing & Communications develop and manage content for dining services website and social media and regularly monitors website and social media metrics  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 year diploma or equivalent; additional training or education in the hospitality industry is preferred; combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Supplemental training or education in finance, accounting, or business related fields would be considered an asset; combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Strong skills in various Microsoft Office and other office software that can include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, etc.
  • Experience with programs and systems related to Hospitality Services is preferred (Event Pro, KX, CEvent, SupplyNet, AiM, HMS)
  • Preference for supplemental training in advanced Word and Excel, and Google Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in hospitality, preferably in a post-secondary environment
  • Strong analytical as it relates to mapping and improving the necessary interactions between business functions, customers, and suppliers
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of business functions as they relate to financials, and understands this as it pertains to business objectives
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
