The Faculty of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Oral Biological and Medical Sciences at UBC, Division of Dental Biomaterials. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with consideration of a higher rank depending on qualifications. This is a tenure-track position that involves teaching (40 %), research (40 %) and service (20 %). Applicants must have a PhD in any dental or related discipline that aligns with research applicable to the field of dentistry. A DMD, DDS or a Dental Hygiene degree is not mandatory, but will be preferred. Candidates will be selected based on their scholarly and teaching track record, but mostly on their potential to further develop independent dental biomaterials research at UBC.The expected salary for this position is $120,000 per annum and the Faculty of Dentistry is committed to offering equitable salaries, taking into consideration the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate as well as their years in rank.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach basic dental materials disciplines to undergraduate students in our DMD and Dental Hygiene Programs and also to our graduate students (MSc/PhD residents) in the disciplines of Prosthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and others, as required. The candidate will also be expected to contribute high quality and effective supervision of graduate students (MSc/PhD) and undergraduate students in short research projects. It is expected that the new faculty develop an independent research program supported by institutional and corporate grants. It is expected that the new faculty enhance international connections and collaborative projects within and outside UBC. In addition, the candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, will build trust through an open, respectful and collegial approach and will be an eager collaborator, able to work in a highly interactive and productive manner with faculty, staff and students across the Department, the Faculty and the University.
