The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President, Academic, the role of the Dean is to provide leadership and management to SAIT’s School for Advanced Digital Technologies (SADT). You will be a member of SAIT’s senior academic leadership team and will work with managers and the executive to develop and implement sound educational strategies and academic and business practices supporting both the school and the institution.
Critical to this is the development and delivery of programming that prepares SAIT’s learners with the technical and life skills and knowledge required for success in the workplace. You must facilitate strong industry alliances to understand and identify how best to align curriculum, delivery and assessment to meet industry requirements. A growth and global mindset is a necessity to continue the school’s growth and reputation ensuring an increase in worldwide recognition

The Role
    • Strategic Planning & Oversight
    • Develop and implement strategic plans aligning with SAIT's 5-year Strategic Plan .
    • Engage staff and faculty in creating a school plan to meet institute objectives.
    • Address opportunities identified in employee surveys to enhance the working environment.
    • Establish systems supporting student learning and career goals.
    • Maintain academic excellence through quality learning environments and performance monitoring.
    • Promote student recruitment through various channels and expand international learning opportunities.
    • Establish and uphold principles, standards, and policies consistent with SAIT's values and mission.
    • Leadership & Development
    • Provide senior leadership and direction to director and indirect reports, ensuring alignment to SAIT's mission and vision.
    • Encourage and support responsive communication, respect and teamwork amongst department.
    • Manage and support employees through the employment lifecycle (hiring, training, mentoring, performance development and offboarding).
    • Intentional Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) focused decision making.
    • Demonstrate excellent employee leadership, while focusing on coaching, skill development and opportunities for advancement.
    • Lead various institutional councils and committees.
    • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to implement strategic goals consistent with SAIT's plans.
    • Represent the department in grievance procedures.
    • Industry Partnerships & Relationships
    • Cultivate relationships with industry leaders and associations to enhance SAIT's image.
    • Ensure program compliance with accreditation standards and drive continuous quality improvement.
    • Support applied research and real-world learning opportunities for students.
    • Stay updated on academic and industry trends to adapt program content and delivery.
    • Foster partnerships to facilitate student and graduate placements.
    • Participate in industry advisory committees and strategic councils.
    • Promote competition initiatives to establish leadership in the field.
    • Collaborate with Alumni and Development to drive strategic initiatives and secure philanthropic contributions.
    • Financial Management
    • Develop annual financial plans to ensure program viability.
    • Provide direction for budget development and expenditure management.
    • Oversee procurement and maintenance programs for efficiency.
    • Monitor budget performance according to projections.

Qualifications & Experience
    • Minimum Masters Degree in relevant discipline; PhD is preferred
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in relevant field combined with a minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role
    • Experience in the post-secondary environment is preferred
    • Strong strategic mindset, able to develop long-term strategies for the department based on institutional goals
    • Able to build and maintain relationships with external partners to understand market conditions, and promote SAIT's programming
    • Driver of innovation and curiosity, enables and empowers others to utilize a continuous improvement mindset
    • Critical thinker who reviews data and information to make decisions
    • Able to develop connections internally and work collaboratively with other Deans
    • Utilize a coaching and mentorship mindset to develop team
    • Proficient in budgeting, financial management and resource allocation
    • Committed to equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives

Job classification: Dean
Salary range: $150,000-190,000
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
Hours Per Week: 37.5
