Campus & Community Recreation has three facilities on the University of Alberta South Campus – Foote Field and the Saville Community Sports Centre (East and West). Foote Field features competition level artificial turf, track, and grass field, as well as a multi-use plaza, conference room, and lounge space. East facilities feature a curling rink (10 sheets), tennis courts (8 courts), fitness centre, bar and lounge, sport performance centre, and various multi-purpose spaces. West facilities feature nine gymnasiums, a competition gym, gymnastics centre, fitness studio, classrooms and food, and beverage services. The Outdoor Tennis Centre features 8 tennis courts. The sport and recreation faclities on the south campus experience over 3.4 million visits per year.

Position 

Reporting to the Customer Service Coordinator, the Customer Service Representative is an integral member of the Campus & Community Recreation Saville Community Sports Centre – West (SCSCW) team. Campus & Community Recreation supports the management of sport and recreation facilities, programs, services and events serving a variety of communities including University of Alberta students, staff, Faculty and general community members. Campus & Community Recreation also supports the facility and service needs of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation and the Varsity Athletics programs through the provision of dedicated sport and recreation space for teaching, research, training, and competition.

This position is located at the Saville Community Sports Centre - West (SCSC-W) which is a multi-use recreation facility located on the South Campus of the University of Alberta.  The facility is operated in partnership with the GO Sports partners and primarily services a community client.

**Please note that this position must be available to work mornings and daytime hours on a regular basis. Days of work are from Monday-Sunday and include hours within the range of 5:30am-2:30pm.**

Duties 

  • Respond to patron inquiries regarding programs, events and general information while providing exceptional customer service
  • Enter program registrations, process payments with excellent attention to detail
  • Direct or respond to all incoming phone, fax and email inquiries/comments in a positive and welcoming way
  • Demonstrate an overall understanding of the facilities used and direct people accordingly
  • Conduct daily opening and closing procedures
  • Help people from our community reach their goals by providing accurate and helpful information on all programming

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Current Intermediate First Aid, CPR Level C and AED training is required
  • Ability to work successfully in a busy, fast-paced environment where teamwork and good communication is required
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications (i.e.Google Apps, Microsoft Word & Excel, Intelligenz)
  • Strong Front Line Customer Service Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to Detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recreation management software is an asset
  • Strong cash handling skills and experience with the processing of cheques, debit, and credit cards is an asset
