NOTE: This is a temporary position ending on or before November 15th, 2025 (18 months from start date) with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate must be availability for varied shifts throughout the school year to support business needs.

 

This position includes a variety of shifts flexing between the hours of 8am and 5:30pm including movement/shifts between Patricia, Souch and Main campus based on business needs.

We are more than just a bookstore, and not only will you serve those who walk in our doors, you will provide digital course material support, transfer inventory between the sales floor to designated warehouses and assist in fulfilling web and special orders. Attention to detail is a must in this role and accurately processing transactions is of fundamental importance.  Shop At NAIT is committed to serving student success and we invited applicants to apply who are equally passionate about joining us in this commitment.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately transfer inventory from sales floor or warehouse as required 
  • Process sales and web orders in an efficient manner, modelling accuracy
  • Support the picking and fulfillment of web and special orders, transfers and returns.
  • Actively engage customers by offering support, suggesting items for purchase, answering questions, and resolving concerns in a friendly manner.
  • Support the process of receiving, counting, tagging, and organizing inventory and customer orders
  • Prepare merchandise for sale and assist in the promotion of products and specials
  • Replenish floor stock and keep team informed of product sell-through observations
  • When helping at the satellite campuses liaise with Buyers at Main campus to ensure students and staff needs are met
  • Enact loss-prevention strategies in order to support a secure shopping environment

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • A positive, respectful attitude with skills in teamwork and customer service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, planning and prioritizing skills, the ability to act with urgency to meet deadlines, and organizational skills are strong assets
  • Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner
  • A strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and previous experience with a Retail Inventory Management system
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts and hours to support business need  
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs (boxes of product), stand/walk for a majority of each shift, plus a willingness and ability to use a pallet jack

 

Qualifications:

  • A current drivers license would be an asset and easy access to a vehicle as our two satellite campuses are difficult to get to on public transit.  
  • Must have previous experience in a retail or customer service environment where focus was on providing an excellent customer experience 
  • Point of Sale experience is necessary to be successful in the role 
  • Completion of grade 12 and a combination of experience and education related to the role

 

Remuneration: $24,634.27 - $32,705.71 (based on a 29 per hour work week) annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Customer Service Rep l).                           

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
