The School of Dentistry invites you to apply to the Curriculum Delivery & Instructional Support Coordinator position. The Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Student and Academic Support Services in the School of Dentistry and indirectly reports to the Associate Chair, Academic and Associate Chair, Dental Hygiene; and Director, Innovation and Quality Improvement in the school. This position is responsible for instructional design and instructor support, management of course and program development, and student support. The Curriculum Delivery & Instructional Support Coordinator is responsible for supporting and contributing to a culture of quality teaching and curriculum delivery.

The Curriculum Delivery & Instructional Support Coordinator keeps up with best practices and trends in the areas of curriculum and instructional design, sharing this with the learning community and promotes/delivers on the use and awareness of resources, expertise, equipment and facilities. The position coordinates and participates in events that promote teaching and learning, all the while supporting and contributing to the overall administration of the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Dental Hygiene (DH) programs, including the provision of support to scheduling, exam support and development and curriculum delivery.

 Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Partnering with instructors and provides a pedagogical framework to drive course design decisions and promote the "best practices" of technology integration

  • Providing consultation and support faculty in the instructional design process (needs assessment, content analysis, task analysis, evaluation, etc); and consultation to faculty and students to integrate new technologies into their teaching along with ethical and/or philosophical issues relevant to educational technology (e.g. equity, copyright, plagiarism, privacy, safety, etiquette, and responsible use);

  • Researching and identifying emerging technologies for future dissemination across the faculty, and pilots new technologies within the faculty;

  • Supporting the creation of technical resources for delivery of online, blended and web-enhanced education and developing resources (e.g., course materials, instructional videos, online quizzes, etc) to support academic staff development involving curriculum design and delivery.

  • Coordinating and supporting academic staff development through facilitation of courses, workshops, consultation, and observation, and supporting the Curriculum Review and Renewal (CRR) process.

  • Providing consultation from the pedagogical perspective, and troubleshooting support for the design and implementation of digital learning programs, course development and consulting with academic staff on issues related to instructional practices, active learning and delivery of online, blended and web-enhanced education

  • Contributing to and attending dentistry and dental hygiene Curriculum Committee meetings, and providing key contributions to the 'Curriculum for Learners' model and teaching and learning framework.

  • Coaching faculty on the use of technology to deliver and support instruction and collaborates with faculty to develop courses, for in-person or digital environments course delivery.

Qualifications: 

  • A graduate degree in Educational Technology or related discipline is required.

  • Minimum two years’ experience in instructional design, training, and curriculum development.

  • Experience in a related role (eg. coaching academic staff with instructional or curriculum delivery) post-secondary experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of new and emerging teaching and learning technologies and how to integrate the in to online learning 

  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures 

  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills 

  • Superior writing, speaking, and communication skills 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills 

  • High degree of tact, discretion, and appreciation for confidentiality 

  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines, multi-task and balance numerous projects while maintaining a perspective on long-term program goals 

  • Strong general technology skills with a willingness to learn new tools and software applications 

  • Knowledge of and experience working with Peoplesoft tools 

  • Experience working with campus elearning tools such as Moodle and Adobe Connect Experience with a web site editing program such us (HTML, CSS, Photoshop, In Design) 

  • Experience with Google apps

  • A high level of knowledge in designing and delivering face-to-face and blended curriculum

  • A strong commitment to a high quality teaching and learning environment, and strong facilitation skills

  • An understanding of contemporary best practice in higher education in relation to curriculum design, assessment and assurance of learning 

  • A strong ability to conduct data analysis
