Hiring Unit: Ingram School of Nursing

Summary:

Reporting to the Director of the Online and Continuing Nursing Education Office, the incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Office’s Curriculum Designer to produce quality online course materials for the Ingram School of Nursing. Will be involved in the online course maintenance cycle, help with the onboarding for students studying online, and support instructors teaching online.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Course Materials:

·         Curates or creates online course materials

·         Integrates course materials, assessments, and learning activities in the LMS in consultation with the Curriculum Designer

·         Implements established design principals and uses existing templates, including HTML, PowerPoint as well as the Style Guide to create a consistent and stimulating student experience.

·         Provides instructors with basic support for online teaching/education technology use, especially at the start of a semester

·         Produces support materials for online student activities

·         Implements corrections based on feedback from instructors and Curriculum Designer

·         Establish open communication with the Curriculum Designer for continuous adjustments

·         Upholds McGill/BNI Online course design standards and policies

·         Participates in quality assurance processes and ensures that procedures are implemented

 

Technical Expertise:

·         Evidence of solid grounding in developing visual layouts and simple animations

·         Demonstrated mastery of multimedia technology (PowerPoint, Camtasia, Photoshop, authoring software, animation tools, etc.)

·         Demonstrated mastery working with Learning Management Systems (Brightspace preferred).

·         Demonstrated mastery with HTML

·         Intermediate level capabilities for image and video editing

Other Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (i.e., Creative and Applied Arts). Experience developing web-based support materials and multimedia. Knowledge of a variety of web-based tools. Solid search skills (knowing where to find information and identify quality information sources). Evidence of strong ability to establish and maintain work priorities and timelines. Knowledge of Open Educational Resources (OERs) is an asset. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills. Must be fluent in both English and French.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4(qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
