Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Academic Director of the Nursing Clinical Skills Laboratory, assists in the day-to-day operations of Ingram School of Nursing’s clinical teaching laboratory.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedules lab sessions for courses in the ISON. Assigns Lenel entry access, at the start of each term, to Teaching Assistants and sessional Instructors using the Lab. Ensures lab rules are followed.

  • Helps maintain the lab in order. Orders supplies as needed/determined by the lab users. Recommends options available to rebuild equipment and/or suggests possible new uses.

  • Receives requests and investigates various suppliers, compares and negotiates best prices and determines suitability of equipment. Orders kits based on student enrollment in appropriate courses (done 2-3 months before the start of the term).

  • Provides assistance with the preparation of lab material as required. Responsible for the preparation, set-up of apparatus and clean-up, in teaching labs. Maintains mannequins and ensures task trainers are in good function.

  • Provides assistance with audiovisual equipment. Helps academic staff in designing and updating Web-based course material. Assists academic staff in their searches for course material and other related information, on the web or elsewhere.

  • Performs administrative and some accounting functions to help manage the teaching lab budget. Tracks all costs related to lab fees.

  • Ensures proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous and other materials.

  • Provides technical support to the School’s staff.

  • Coordinates/Perform laundry services.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Advanced computer skills (e.g.: proven Microsoft Office competency...)

  • Demonstrated clinical experience in a hospital or simulation environment, an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience with combination of technical and functional aspects of simulation technology and equipment, an asset.  

  • Proven experience facilitating and teaching. 

Minimum Education and Experience:

DEC III - Medical Laboratory Technology 4 Years Related Experience /

Hourly Salary:

(MUNACA Level 12) $24.65 - $34.01
