Salary for period March 7 to April 13, 2023 is $4,125.

Course details:

A variety of issues significant to the development of German cultural and intellectual life.  Topic: Karl Marx - Origin and Fate of Marxism, the lives of Marx and Engels.

This course is taught in English.

Position Summary:

A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:

a) preparation of the Course and Course plan; 
b) delivery of the Course; 
c) evaluation of students; 
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades; 
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff; 
f) upon request, review of their students’ grades; 
g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements.

Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

Ph.D. in German or registered in the German Studies graduate program at McGill. Native or near-native fluency in English.  Knowledge of German is an asset.

Experience

A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a PhD student in German Studies in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University.
