Course Description:

Littératie et littérature jeunesse en FLS

Développement de la littératie en langue seconde; les stratégies d'enseignement et d'apprentissage de la lecture et de l'écriture; l'exploration et l'utilisation de la littérature enfantine et de jeunesse propre à la francophonie dans divers contextes scolaires.  \ Ce cours vise à conscientiser l'étudiant aux stratégies d'enseignement et d'apprentissage de la lecture et de l'écriture propices au développement de la bilittératie en classes d'immersion. Il explore de façon approfondie, le rôle de la littérature enfantine et de jeunesse dans l'apprentissage du français langue seconde en contexte scolaire.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Second Language Education or related area  (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)

  • Teaching degree or equivalent, and experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL)

Experience:

  • Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) including ESL program

  • Expert Knowledge of course content Familiarity with the 12 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation

  • Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers

  • Experience teaching ESL in the Quebec elementary/secondary French school system.

Other:

  • Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.

  • Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date.

Art 15.07 The candidate shall submit her application in writing, in hard copy or electronically to the Department Chair, indicating, in order of preference, on the form reproduced in Appendix 11 the Courses in which she is interested and the number of Courses she wishes to give, during the posting period specified in article 15.04 a).

Posting Period: June 1, 2022 to June 15, 2022 (inclusive)

Please note that given the resumption of in-person teaching activities, most courses will be taught in person. Exams may however need to be administered remotely depending, mainly on the size of the class. Course Lecturers will be required to plan accordingly. Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of in person teaching, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Course Lecturers will be advised without delay. Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching is available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) . Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures.
