EDPE 300 Educational Psychology
Ed Psych & Couns (Psychology) : Selected theories, models, and concepts relevant to planning and reflecting upon educational practice and improvement. Overview of development, learning, thinking, motivation, individual difference, etc. In relation to applications in classroom teaching and learning, the complementary role of counsellors and psychologists, educational computing and technology. The Youth Protection Act.
CL Credits: 3 (This course is not team-taught)
Schedule: June 8 - June 18, 2023
Thursday: 6:15 PM - 9:30 PM (3.25hrs);
Friday & Saturday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM;
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM
Location: Val D'Or, Québec. Travel required and will be covered by the department.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education
A Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered).
Experience
Expert knowledge of course content as outlined in the course description
Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration.
Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l’Éducation
Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant in the partnering school board for which this course is being delivered.
Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system
Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers
Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.
Other
Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date
Preferred candidate will have demonstrated cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Indigenous issues in First Nations and Inuit contexts and connection to First Nations and Inuit communities.

Please note that, government directives permitting, it is anticipated that most courses will be taught in person. Should government restrictions prohibit in-person teaching, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Course Lecturers will be advised without delay. Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform (e.g., Zoom, WebEx) and the McGill MyCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching is available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS). Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures.
