Winter 2022 Course Lecturer Position

The Department of Economics is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach in Winter 2022. Please include your Cover Letter and Curriculum Vitae and if applicable a copy of your Study/Work Permit. A brief course outline is optional.

ECON 330D2-001 Macroeconomic Theory (CAP 190)
A review of basic economic concepts and tools with an in depth and critical presentation of the fundamental areas of macroeconomic theory. Topics include: the determination of output, employment and price level; money and banking and business cycles; stabilization policy; international finance and growth theory.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

  • Doctoral level study in Economics, including completed comprehensive examinations for the PhD, or completed PhD degree in Economics;

  • Evidence of highly effective teaching ability or of superior communications skills and potential for teaching excellence;

  • The candidate's area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered;

  • Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.

Mondays and Wednesdays 04:05 pm-05:25 pm, January 5, 2022 – April 12, 2022. Location: LEA 26.

Please note that given the planned resumption of in-person teaching activities, most courses will be taught in person. Exams may however need to be administered remotely depending, mainly on the size of the class. Course Lecturers will be required to plan accordingly. Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of in-person teaching, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Course Lecturers will be advised without delay. Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching is available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS). Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures.

The language of instruction at McGill is English, but proficiency in spoken and written French is an asset.

Salary: $9,625 per course.
