Winter 2023 Course Lecturer Position

The Department of Economics is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach in Winter 2023. Please include your Cover Letter and Curriculum Vitae and if applicable a copy of your Study/Work Permit. A brief course outline is optional.

ECON 295-001 Macroeconomic Policy (CAP 310)
This applied macroeconomics course focuses on current and recurrent macroeconomic issues important in understanding the public policy environment in which firms make their decisions. Topics include national accounts; national income determination; economic growth and fluctuations; money, monetary policy and financial markets; international trade and finance.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

  • Doctoral level study in Economics, including completed comprehensive examinations for the PhD, or completed PhD degree in Economics;

  • Evidence of highly effective teaching ability or of superior communications skills and potential for teaching excellence;

  • The candidate's area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered;

  • Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.

Tuesdays and Thursdays 02:35 pm-03:55 pm, January 4, 2023 – April 13, 2023. Location: STBIO S1/4.

Please note that, government directives permitting, it is anticipated that most courses will be taught in person. Should government restrictions prohibit in-person teaching, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Course Lecturers will be advised without delay. Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform (e.g., Zoom, WebEx) and the McGill myCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching is available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS). Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures.

The language of instruction at McGill is English, but proficiency in spoken and written French is an asset.

Salary: $9,625 per course.
