Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Assistant to the Dean of Students, Student Life and Leadership (ADSLL), the Coordinator, Student Life Programs supports the planning and implementation of a wide range of programs designed to promote the active engagement of the College’s students. The CSLP promotes community development, academic success and personal growth of students through program implementation, leadership and mentorship development, supporting student organizations and student groups, and informal interactions with students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders.
  • Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of seminars and workshops.
  • Keeping well informed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Organizing, summarizing and circulating program and/or course evaluations.
  • Developing contentfor marketing and/or promotional materials.
  • Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies.
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate.
  • Screening and making referrals to appropriate resources and services. Training and coaching casual staff.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent and related experience providing administrative and advising support to student leaders and student organizations in a post-secondary education institution.
  • Experience administering leadership programs.
  • Experience with student-focused event planning, promotion, and execution.
  • Experience supporting the development of co-curricular activities.
  • Experience working with and advising students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience administering mentorship programs.
  • Experience advising student groups.
  • Experience writing content for and maintaining websites.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to provide effective guidance and advice to students, student leaders and organizations in a responsive, empathetic, thoughtful, and discreet manner.
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and organize work, and meet tight deadlines while able to pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge and understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 -- $65,407 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $83,646. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
