The Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science is looking to hire a passionate, experienced cook for their Nutrition and Immunity Research Study. This position is required for up to 35 hours per week for a period of 9 months.
Duties:
- Cook specific meals following our menu, recipes and food safety criteria (protocols already developed).
- Prepare our weekly menu for our research participants.
Keep control of inventory of ingredients/cook dishes and make a weekly grocery list.
Constant communication with the Research Coordinator related to ingredients and plans for batch cook recipes.
Qualifications:
- Knowledgeable in food safety - food handler certificate preferable, Alberta Food Safety Certificate accepted.
- Familiar with kitchen equipment.
- Experienced cooking skills (including the ability to follow written recipes).
- Attention to detail is needed as food preparation and storage need specific weights and measurements.
- Familiar with taking temperatures of food.
- Familiar with using food scales and weighing food.
COVID-19 Vaccination: Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 in compliance with the University’s COVID-19 Vaccination Directive. Fully Vaccinated means a status an individual achieves 14 days after having received the recommended number of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada or the World Health Organization, and requires the individual to maintain the recommended number and type of vaccine doses as updated and required by Health Canada thereafter.
