NAIT’s Electrician Apprenticeship and Electrical Installations Technology Diploma programs prepare students to install, alter, repair, and maintain electrical systems designed to provide heat, light, power, control, signals, or fire alarms for building premises. They prepare students to be comfortable splicing, joining, and connecting wires to form circuits, and testing those circuits for integrity and safety.  Students will learn more about how to position and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels and fuse enclosures and fiber optic systems or electrical generation sources.  Also, interpreting electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings, specifications, and applicable codes, to determine wiring layouts. 

The Electrician Apprenticeship and Electrical Installations Technology Diploma programs are currently recruiting for continuous instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidates will: 

  • Have strong technical knowledge in Electrical. 
  • Be able to work both independently and within a team environment 
  • Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting 
  • Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews 
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials 
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment 
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records 
  • Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention 
  • Respond to student issues 
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions 
  • Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly 
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners 
  • Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute 
  • Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement 
  • Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Excellent interpersonal Skills 
  • Strong desire to help students succeed 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Knowledge of computers 

 

Qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma 
  • Completion of Electrician Journeyperson ticket or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal required 
  • Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket. 
  • Teaching experience an asset   

 

 

Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
