As part of NAIT’s mission to be the most relevant and responsive post-secondary institution in Canada, the School of Health Sciences aims to drive the evolution of health care education in Alberta.  A great program needs great instructors and the NAIT Diagnostic Laboratory Programs, within the School of Health and Life Sciences, requires a full-time instructor to lead the delivery of curriculum and design for lecture and lab learning.  Recent clinical laboratory experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Microbiology, Transfusion Medicine, Chemistry, Hematology, Anatomical Pathology.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student instruction and evaluation for lectures and labs
  • Student support activities
  • Curriculum development for courses to include lecture and lab content, assessments, rubrics and other learning activities, as well as curriculum updates to reflect the current competency profile and industry standards
  • Some evening and/or weekend hours for lab instruction and other educational events may be required in certain semesters
  • Participation in continuing education including regular industry updates

 

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized post-secondary institute
  • A related Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or science may be an asset
  • Considerable experience as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist
  • Unrestricted General MLT practice permit with the CMLTA
  • CSMLS registration is considered an asset
  • Experience working with MS Office products and willing to learn other software and learning management tools
  • Experience in delivery of adult education and/or curriculum design
  • Experience with course set up and delivery using a learning management system is considered an asset
  • Immunizations’ status and police information checks, as required by the program, may be requested

 

Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
