Position Summary:
A research assistant is required to contribute to the management of the new Management Science Research Centre (MSRC) case writing competition. The competition is designed to encourage BCom students to reflect on the relationship between work placements and internships they've completed over the summer and course topics related to operations management, statistics, and data analytics, as they come under the purvey of the MSRC. The final objective is to begin converting students entries into new case studies to supplement existing teaching materials. Cash prizes are awarded for the top three entries, and the competition is sponsored by Ernst & Young who are also providing the funding for this research assistant position. 


The competition manager (research assistant) will work alongside Professor Rob Glew to promote and manage competition entries, provide support for students, review entries, and organise a prize giving event in November. This will also involve working with the competition sponsors Ernst & Young, including partners from their data analytics and transfer pricing divisions. If the competition is successful it will likely be repeated next year in which case this position will be renewed on an annual basis. 

Key Responsibilities:

•    Writing and sending emails promoting the competition to students.
•    Managing the competition email accounts and giving students access to the mycourses page where we are sharing advice and taking submissions.
•    Assisting with the review of submissions to select a shortlist of finalists for review by Ernst & Young partners and professors.
•    Organising a competition prize giving event in November in partnership with Ernst & Young and the MSRC.

Hourly pay in the range of $25-$28 for approximately 40 hours work maximum.


Qualifications:
•    Strong written communication skills.
•    Experience organising or assisting with the organisation of events.
•    Experience working with case studies in a management setting. Desirable:
•    Experience as a TA in a course within the desired subject area.
•    Experience using McGill’s mycourses platform.
