RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

A unique incubator in the heart of the Montreal General Hospital, the Clinical Innovation Platform (CLIP) supports innovative solutions to unmet clinical needs and accelerates the adoption of technologies into the market and healthcare system. CLIP’s hospital-based ecosystem facilitates unprecedented access to clinical facilities, expertise, and stakeholders to validate technologies in a real-care setting. With proximity to clinics, operating rooms, laboratories, clinical trial centers and pre-clinical facilities CLIP allows members to take full advantage of the resources in the McGill University Health Centre.

Under the direct supervision of the CLIP Scientific and Clinical directors, the incumbent will facilitate all aspects of the activities of the Clinical Innovation Platform (CLIP), including business development, finance management, communication and administration. The incumbent will explore/evaluate non-traditional funding opportunities, including governmental and non-governmental grants, Innovation grants, industry outreach, etc. The incumbent will act as the day-to-day facilitator between the CLIP leadership, the CLIP members and the Key Opinion leaders, and will work with the other resources within the RI-MUHC, the MUHC and stakeholders outside those organizations to strengthen the CLIP growth and accelerate CLIP members translational activities and regulatory approvals.

General Duties

ROLE:

• Plays a lead role in the CLIP development and growth by identifying and bringing in new members, organizing members activities, and maintaining continuous internal and external communications,
• Develops partnerships with external stakeholders: corporate companies, funding organizations, research centers and private investors,
• Organizes CLIP training, course and networking events for our members and stakeholders.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit to create multiple growth opportunities for the CLIP ,
• Develops collaborative partnerships across various constituencies within the CLIP, the MUHC and outside organizations, including (but not limited to) CLIP , members, investors, clinicians and other incubators,
• Plays a lead role in the preparation of the members funding requests (MEIE, IRAP, MITACS…etc) ,
• Is knowledgeable of the Platforms members work and technology development in order to help groups work together when activities align ,
• Implements the strategic plan of the CLIP Leadership regarding the development and planning of activities that will support the goals and priorities of the Platform,
• Facilitates all aspects of the activities of the CLIP , including: business development, financial, communication and awareness and administration,
• Supports specific projects as assigned (ex: major networking events, market research, pre-clinical studies, clinical studies… etc) ,
• Oversees internal and external communications and reporting activities including annual report, finances, funding, key performance metrics ,
• Plans and coordinates CLIP advisory Board meeting and reports ,
• Performs other duties as required or assigned by the CLIP leadership team.


Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: Business, engineering,
Other education considered an asset for this position: MBA
Work Experience:
• Direct work experience in the Medical technology field (in industry or research) ,
• Experience with business development (i.e. Creating partnerships, building prospect databases, increasing revenue) and funding applications (Governmental and non-governmental) ,
• Medical and/or technology Business experience considered an asset (ie. Industry, startups, incubator/accelerator, funding organization, VC…),
• Experience in social media communication and strategy considered an asset.

Additional information

Status : Temporary Full-Time
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education & work experience.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday , 08:30 to 16:30 (35 hours)
Work Site: Montreal General Hospital
