RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
Under the supervision of the Director of McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4) Clinical Research Platform and the Director of Administration of the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre we are seeking a highly motivated, organized, enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team. The candidate will be responsible for the pre-screening of patients for clinical research studies with a focus on infectious diseases including COVID-19 and mpox studies.

The incumbent must be familiar with the clinical trial process and be able to coordinate the pre-screening of patients for research studies. Training in infection control procedures and personal protective equipment will be assured.

General Duties
Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to:

1. Coordinate study screening activities at the study sites to ensure project timelines and patient enrollment goals are achieved:
• Be the “first line” of contact regarding recruitment for infectious disease studies.
2. Coordinate patient recruitment procedures:
• Identify eligible participants,
• Perform chart review to meet eligibility criteria,
• Interact with treating teams (physicians and nursing) to ensure patient eligibility,
• Explain and review research studies to COVID/mpox positive patients,
• Complete informed consent form process with participants.
3. Work directly with the principal investigators, the research teams and collaborating laboratories/co-investigators at the study sites that are actively recruiting for their projects:
• Provide recruitment statistics to ensure project timelines and patient enrollment goals are achieved,
• Develop systems to monitor and track recruitment goals,
• Complete all research screening documentation forms, including case report forms (CRFs), queries and other study specific documents,
• Attend relevant departmental meetings or rounds to increase knowledge and understanding.
4. Other responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to:
• Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by supervisor, including supporting and supervising other coordinators and research staff members,
• Data entry and coordination.


Education / Experience

Education:
• Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree desired, preferably in the area of biomedical sciences,
• 2 year of experience recruiting and following participants participating in research protocols,
• 2 years of experience in coordinating clinical trials.

Skills:
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, with fluency in spoken French,
• High level of initiative and organization,
• Ability to prioritize and to multitask,
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations,
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team,
• Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality,
• Computing skills including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
• Experience with infectious diseases would be an asset.


Additional information

Status: Full-time (one-year renewable contract)
Pay Scale: $42,260 to $78,460/annum, commensurate to qualifications and experience
Work Shift: 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday (35-hour workweek)
Work Site: Glen
