RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
Under the direct supervision of the Scientific Director of the Health Informatics & Analytics Unit the incumbent is responsible for coordinating and supporting the creation, design, and operation of systems to support the management and analysis of clinical and administrative data at the McGill University Health Centre and the RI-MUHC. The goal is to ensure the ongoing operation of a modern research data analytics ecosystem for use by the MUHC and RI-MUHC communities. This ecosystem will concurrently facilitate research and clinical performance and quality operations, including dashboard-based tracking and quality assessment.

General Duties
• Lead the ongoing improvement of the processes and systems at the MUHC for making data
accessible to support quality improvement and research,
• Lead the ongoing description, monitoring, and improvement of the user experience for accessing
MUHC data for quality and research,
• Lead efforts to document data captured in clinical and administrative systems at the MUHC with a
focus on the data most relevant for quality improvement and research,
• Guide the adoption, maintenance, use of standard terminologies and common data models and the
development and maintenance of mappings from MUHC coding systems to standard terminologies,
• Train researchers and other staff in processes and software applications for data access, including
data dictionaries, aggregate data tools, and real or synthetic data requests,
• Process end-user feedback and requests, and coordinate modifcations to systems and processes for
data access as appropriate, including planning pilot and full implementations of changes,
• Act as the liaison between data users, Information Technology, system administrators and MUHC
management in identifying system needs, modifications and/or issues related to data access.


Education / Experience

• PhD or MSc degree in health data science or related field,
• Master’s degree in Health Informatics, or related fields, is an asset,
• 5-8 years of experience in clinical practice, facilitation, change management and
electronic information systems,
• Experience with data analytics and modern data management environments is preferred,
• Experience with software development lifecycle, and programming is an asset,
• Previous experience in reviewing and implementing clinical documentation processes to
reflect best practice standards in clinical decision making and documentation,
• Excellent understanding of clinical terminologies, common data models, and data
mapping,
• Experience with integration of systems and clinical business requirements for delivering
health information solutions,
• Experience in providing consultative services for application and software solutions, as
well as managing a positive relationship with internal/external stakeholders,
• Solid understanding of business and clinical workflow analysis, requirements gathering,
documentation and system design,
• Solid troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills,
• Demonstrated management/leadership skills,
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, project milestones and deliverables using standard
project management tools,
• Effective verbal, presentation and written communication skills
• Strong people skills, team player, self-starter, motivated individual able to work with
minimal supervision.


Additional information

Status : Full time
Pay Scale: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m
Work Site: Glen Site, MUHC
