Department/Faculty Summary

Under the self-funded umbrella of Campus Services , the University of Alberta's Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic is a multi-faceted facility that serves the needs of active individuals, whether you're a recreational player, a varsity athlete, or you just love to exercise and stay active. The clinic consists of an interdisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, physical therapists, kinesiologists, massage therapists and orthotists who specialize in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal, sport and exercise-related concerns.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Office Manager, the focus of this position is the coordination of billing and reconciliation for contracted clinicians in the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic. This position is responsible for processing all invoices, payments, receiving and ensuring that third party requests for document completion or information transfer follow standards of the relevant professional association(s). The incumbent will work closely with the office manager to ensure invoices are processed correctly, payments are made to contractors and external vendors in a timely fashion and that all financial records are accurately maintained and accessible as needed. This position will also transfer files to storage, update the clinic purchasing database and set up new fiscal year files. Accurate record management, reconciliation and recovery of billings is an essential responsibility of this position.

Duties

  • Submits billing claims to Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, invoices to WCB and third party payers for clinical services provided by contractors in the clinic.
  • Submits clinician/contractor invoices, corrections and updates to SupplyNet
  • Ensures patients/companies are billed correctly for services
  • Ensures that payments received reconcile with billings made
  • Monitors and follows up on billing third parties for treatments, invoicing private pay patients when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Medical Terminology
  • Accounting/bookkeeping courses/diploma or equivalent experience
  • Experience in billing, reconciliation and development of financial reports essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years administrative experience in a busy medical office
  • Electronic medical records experience
