Position Summary:

Orthographic and phonetic transcription of treatment sessions from audio and video recordings.

Research projects to evaluate the progress of patients and student speech-language pathologists in the clinic including: (a) examination of time spent in various tasks during treatment sessions, i.e., direct treatment, social tasks, non-compliance, etc.; (b) examination of number of correct/incorrect behaviors and number of appropriate clinician responses to the child’s behaviors; and (c) number of treatment goals per session; and (d) types of interventions for the used for each goal. Aspects of the sessions related to the amount and scheduling of treatment-related events, i.e., number of treatment trials; number of treatment trials: number of clinical responses; number of positive clinical responses: number of corrective responses; number of positive clinical responses: number of other clinical responses.

Qualifications:

The candidate must have knowledge and experience in the transcription of speech and language samples. The candidate must have a least a Master's degree (preferably a Ph.D.)  in communication sciences and disorders or linguistics or psychology or a related field. Research experience is an asset.

Research and technical skills that are essential for the listed projects include: phonetic transcription; event coding using Noldus to describe verbal and nonverbal interactions between children and adults; project management skills; basic approaches to statistical analysis.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
