Duties and Responsibilities:

Job is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Canadian Accessibility Networks (CAN) strategic priorities, which revolve around advancing accessibility for people with disabilities across Canada. The incumbent is responsible for collaborating with the Chair of each of the Governing and Advisory Councils, as well as the Chairs for each of the five Domain Area Committees and associated working groups, as well as the greater membership to meet the Networks organizational goals and mandate.


Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of office administration policies, procedures, and processes
• Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
• Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, divisions, and departments
• Knowledge of corporate governance procedures and practices
• Knowledge of multi-tasking and time management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Integrity and professionalism


Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Completion of a master’s degree
• Minimum 3 years of experience providing governance, direction and support to a national association, network or board of directors including managing day to day operations and supporting multiple working groups or
• Minimum 3 years of experience working in an accessibility/disability environment, including knowledge of legislation and standards as it relates to provincial/federal guidelines (i.e. AODA, Accessibility Act, Accessibility Standards Canada, etc.)
• Bilingual in English and French, as required by the Canadian Accessibility Network (CAN)


HR Note:

The CAN Corporate Secretary is a full-time one-year term position, with a possibility for renewal. The full salary range is provided, however the starting salary will be typically be between the minimum and the mid-point ($65,704 - $75,560) and based on the selected candidate's qualifications and other compensation factors. The total compensation package includes competitive extended health and dental benefits, annual and sick leave, life insurance, and unique perks such as tuition benefits and access to the fitness facilities at Carleton.
