As part of NAIT’s mission to be the most relevant and responsive post-secondary institution in Canada, the School of Health and Life Sciences aims to drive the evolution of health care education in Alberta. With programs ranging from Diagnostic Imaging, Animal Health and Dental Health Sciences to Respiratory Therapy, Personal Fitness Training, Diagnostic Laboratory and Emergency Medical Services, our programs utilize a wide range of cutting-edge medical technologies.  In order to ensure our students receive the best exposure possible to our equipment, we require Biomedical Technologists to support instructional activities by performing on-demand repairs and ongoing preventative maintenance. Currently we are recruiting for a casual Biomedical Technology Assistant to help with our summer maintenance program. This position requires a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preventative maintenance of SHLS medical equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment failures.
  • Assist in minor, non-invasive repairs of medical equipment.
  • Complete detailed reports of all work performed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of basic repair and maintenance techniques and practices, safe work practices and policies, and safe driving rules and practices
  • Ability to work independently or in a team situation
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 10
  • Minimum one year of Biomedical Engineering Technology (BET) program
  • Equivalencies may be considered

 

Remuneration: $20.34 - $25.31 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of stat holiday and vacation pay. (Classification – Maintenance Service Worker l).                           

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
