Description: This course is designed to introduce theory and experimental techniques in cell biology. The course examines the structure and function of major animal and plant organelles and integrates this into a discussion of protein biosynthesis, signal-based sorting and intracellular trafficking using the cytoskeleton. Cell motility and cell interactions with the environment will also be examined to provide a solid foundation on the basic unit of life.

Minimum Qualifications: Includes: ability, academic qualifications, suitability for the position and appropriate background in the subject/specialty. Strong background in cell biology required. 

Duties: Duties for the position may vary and include: preparation for classes, conducting in person tutorials with breakout groups, invigilating and marking. Specific duties are defined in the contract by the instructor in charge of the course. Please note duties are performed in person at the UTSC campus. 

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. It is understood that some announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.

Salary: $55.25/hour, plus 4% vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
