The School of Social Work at Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for a preliminary (tenure-track) appointment in clinical social work at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2023 or January 1, 2024.

We are looking for candidates whose research has significant potential to improve clinical practice and service delivery with marginalized communities, demonstrated experience in simulation-based pedagogies and research methods. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of post-MSW clinical experience. Experience teaching clinical practice courses either at the graduate or undergraduate levels is essential.

Qualifications

This position requires a candidate with an MSW degree and a completed PhD in social work or a related field by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of clinical social work practice and a commitment to critical social work frameworks.

Candidates must demonstrate an emerging record of excellence in research as evidenced by an ability to attract external funding and high-quality field-relevant peer reviewed publications or forthcoming publications in the field of clinical social work. The candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching, have solid clinical/practice experience in social work or a related field, and be supported by strong letters of reference. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing strengths in simulation-based clinical instruction and critical approaches to social work practice. The successful candidate must be registered or eligible for registration with the Ontario College for Social Workers and Social Service Workers http://www.ocswssw.org.

In addition, please arrange to have three letters of references sent to the School of Social Work.
