The Opportunity

The Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP) (https://www.mcgill.ca/edu-ecp/ ) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in School Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor.  School/Applied Child Psychology (SACP) is one of two concentrations in the combined School and Counselling Psychology graduate program which is accredited by both the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ) and by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) . The Applicant

The successful candidate is expected to produced high-impact research and scholarship consistent with a research-intensive university, have a plan for securing external funding, and have played an active role in teaching, as well as graduate research and clinical supervision. The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in School Psychology (Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program preferred) or a closely related discipline as well as a professional identity as a School Psychologist. We are especially interested in professionals with clinical skills and experience to provide professional education and preparation of professionals in school psychology. This requires eligibility for membership with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ) (i.e., licensure or registration) for consideration for the position.   

The research area of the applicant is open within the field of school psychology. We are seeking candidates with expertise in applying learning research to clinical practice in diverse and interdisciplinary environments. Special interest for the program includes applicants that can address one or more of the following areas: 

  • social justice in clinical practice

  • school mental health

  • response-to-intervention models

  • quantitative/measurement

Candidates should demonstrate an outstanding potential for research, teaching, and graduate supervision and have a strong background in and knowledge of research design, preferably both quantitative and qualitative analytic methods. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, supervise master’s level and doctoral students, and be an active contributor to program-related activities.

The position start date is August 1, 2023

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with University guidelines.
