About the Position:

The School of Information Technology invites applications from candidates with a background in any area of optical systems and sensors, including but not limited to remote sensing, machine learning, deep-learning, optical signal processing, opto-electronics, internet of things, and similar areas. A broad expertise in optical systems is expected, but we are especially interested in candidates with expertise that complements the School of Information Technology’s current research strengths in lasers, optical communications, computer vision, image processing, autonomous vehicles, and optical waveguides.

Candidates should show a strong record of teaching and research in the field.

The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels, supervise undergraduate capstone projects and graduate students, and develop new and revise existing courses; (ii) build on their existing record of research with publications at top-tier international forums, develop a strong, externally-funded research program offering exceptional training opportunities, and pursue dynamic partnerships with industry and government organizations; and (iii) assist in the administration of the School’s ongoing activities.

About the Academic Unit:

The School is home to 13 top-performing full time faculty members and offers PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees in Information Technology. The Bachelor of Information Technology degree covers four distinct programs: Interactive Multimedia & Design, Network Technology, Optical Systems & Sensors, and Information Resource Management; providing an innovative mix of courses drawing on a variety of disciplines and combine a strong foundation in academic theory with hands-on training. The graduate programs provide a framework to study and research on all aspects of digital media, networking, and data science. Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline, is required. Applicants should exhibit strong potential for independent and innovative research, have a track record of high-quality scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications, demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions including excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills and be able to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.
