The Department of Economics at Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for a preliminary tenure-track faculty position in Health Economics and related topics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2022.

The main criteria for selection are evidence of high-quality research and strong teaching potential. In terms of teaching, the expectation is to teach Health Economics and related courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The selected candidate is also expected to engage in the supervision of graduate students.


About the Academic Unit

The Department of Economics is housed in Carleton University’s Faculty of Public Affairs and is diverse (based on gender and minority group representation) and has a diverse student population. It offers the Bachelor of Economics (Honours and General), as well as the International Economic Policy and Global Development specializations in the Bachelor of Global and International Studies to approximately 1000 students within the Faculty of Public Affairs. The Bachelor of Economics allows students to pursue a number of concentrations including computational analysis, economic data science, economic theory, financial economics and natural resources, environment and the economy. The Department also offers an M.A. in Economics, and in partnership with the University of Ottawa, a Ph.D. in Economics through the Ottawa-Carleton Graduate School of Economics. Academic positions in Economics offer opportunities for interaction with excellent colleagues. Our faculty members have published regularly in top general and field journals. Naturally, such positions also offer opportunities for interaction with the students in our Ph.D. program. Location in close proximity to the Health Canada, Bank of Canada, Statistics Canada, Finance Canada, and the University of Ottawa provides many advantages. Qualifications

Candidates should hold (or expect to complete prior to the date of appointment) a doctoral degree in economics (or in a highly related field) and have a record of high-quality research and strong teaching potential.
