About the Position:

The School of Computer Science at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track appointment in Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The position is in Artificial Intelligence. The candidate should have an established research record in one or more aspects of Artificial Intelligence, with demonstrated interest in diverse aspects of the practice and discipline of Artificial Intelligence. We are particularly looking for expertise in reinforcement learning, natural language processing, and computer vision. We invite applicants eager to build a strong, externally funded, visible, innovative, and internationally recognized research program.

About the Academic Unit:

The School has 40 full-time faculty members. Research strengths are big data analytics, computer security, graphics, HCI, high-performance computational geometry, computing, databases and information systems, distributed computing. machine learning and networks. The School offers a Bachelor of Computer Science degree and graduate programs at the Masters and Ph.D. levels. The School also administers a collaborative master’s in Data Science (Institute for Data Science – Carleton University ). Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Computer Science (or closely related discipline) is required by the position start date. Candidates should provide evidence of strong international-calibre research potential and should have a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate Computer Science courses and graduate courses in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. We will favorably consider applicants with an interest and demonstrated aptitudes for building bridges with community, industry, and government agencies.
