Position Description:

The McGill University Division of Urology in the Department of Surgery is currently inviting applications for a faculty position. This is a full-time Contract Academic Staff (CAS) appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The position is located at St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges borough. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in clinical care, innovation and teaching.
The McGill University Division of Urology is composed of 19 full-time urologists dedicated to the achievement of excellence in clinical urologic patient care, research, and education. The divisional members practice at the McGill University Health Centre (adult and pediatric activities), the Jewish General Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital. The division is at the forefront of urological research in Canada and has achieved international recognition.


Job Duties:

The successful candidate is expected to engage in and develop an academic clinical practice at St. Mary’s Hospital, and to participate actively in all clinical activities and share on call responsibilities.  The candidate is also expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (research, teaching, supervision of graduate students and residents and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • possess a medical degree, have completed urology training with a Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification or equivalent, and should have completed a minimum one year fellowship;

  • be an academic urologist licensed or eligible for licensure in the province of Quebec;

  • be committed to clinical excellence, research, and education;

  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire these language skills at the level needed to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
