The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track faculty Assistant Professor position in Advanced Manufacturing and Design. This position is part of the University of Alberta’s priority to build a diverse faculty; thus, candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have research expertise in the area of advanced manufacturing and design, with a focus on additive manufacturing, hybrid manufacturing, tolerancing and assembly, industrial automation, computer-integrated manufacturing, production processes, fabrication technologies, Industry 4.0, lightweight materials technologies, multifunctional materials, engineering design, design automation and optimization, human-centered design, augmented reality in computer-aided design and manufacturing, design for additive manufacturing, construction automation, reverse engineering, and multiphysics modelling of manufacturing systems. Successful candidates will also be expected to teach courses in engineering design, solid modelling, and/or finite element analysis, as well as in one or more of the areas of expertise listed above.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. They are expected to be or become a licensed Professional Engineer through the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA, https://www.apega.ca/ ). Licensure must be obtained within five years from the date of hire.
