Tenure-track Position in Applied Sports Science, Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education

 

The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, one of the three academic units of the Faculty of Education at McGill University, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, effective January 1, 2025. We are seeking an individual who can work in an interdisciplinary environment, and complement and expand existing research activities in the DKPE, Faculty of Education, and across the University. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree (post-doctoral experience an asset) in Kinesiology or alternatively, a relevant area. Selected candidates will have an emerging and/or outstanding sports science research profile, demonstrated by excellent publications, national and international conference presentations, and an ability to attract external funding.

Position Description:
This is a Tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, Applied Sports Science.
Job Duties:

This position will strategically contribute to the mission and activities of the Sylvan Adams Sports Science Institute (SASSI) at McGill University (https://www.mcgill.ca/sassi/). We are seeking an individual who will make a significant contribution to SASSI, which has a broad mandate to contribute research that will advance sports science, particularly as it relates to optimizing elite sport performance. The ideal candidate will have an established network of collaborators in the field of sports science from the local to the international level, and will be able to work in both English and French. The selected candidate will also be expected to effectively supervise master’s and doctoral students in Kinesiology Sciences, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in their specialty area related to applied sports science, and actively engage in service that will contribute to the advancement of SASSI, the DKPE, McGill University, and the scholarly community locally, provincially, nationally and internationally.

 

McGill University is an English-language institution where most teaching activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.
