Our ideal candidate:

Our ideal candidate would have an interest in learning more about heritage services and licensing resources for libraries, and in exploring a non-traditional career path for librarians and museum

The project:

The Archives Intern will work under the direction of CRKN’s Senior Manager, Heritage Services to develop an archival fond covering CRKN’s history for future researchers. The intern will review the physical and digital records of CRKN to identify materials with potential archival value, as identified in inventories prepared as part of the 2020-2021 records management project, then segregate them for further appraisal, and support listing and description to facilitate their management, either through preservation by CRKN or through possible donation to an appropriate repository. As appropriate, the intern could also support the further description or management of archival materials.

The benefits:

CRKN will provide a rewarding work experience and unsurpassed networking opportunities with our members and external stakeholders from across the country. CRKN will facilitate an online or on-site job shadowing opportunity, as the public health situation permits, at an academic library, encourage you to attend virtual/in-person networking and professional development events, and provide job search support.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications of education, experience and skills:

Degree required: MLS/MLIS degree or MMSt Master of Museum Studies/Master of Heritage and Museum Studies degree, Master of Archival Studies, or equivalent.

  • Ability to work independently
  • High level of initiative and strong sense of ownership of their work and drive to achieve results for the organization
  • A team player with demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments and multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure with discretion, tact and good judgement.
  • Expertise with metadata would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAM) sector is highly desirable
