Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Veterinary Care Manager, performs technical and animal husbandry duties related to housing, maintenance, experimental use and breeding of animals. Participates in projects and experiments. Administers medications. Acts as resource person. Maintains records. Maintains equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Observation, handling, restraint, and weighing of animals.
Euthanize rodents as per protocol.
Assist with rodent breeding colony management including animal observation, weaning, separating, identification, euthanasia, and recordkeeping.
Prepare non-invasive sample collection for health monitoring, environmental testing, water quality testing, etc.
Prepare materials, solutions, instruments, equipment for the Veterinary Care team.
Prepare room and equipment cleaning and maintenance in specialized areas under the oversight of the Veterinary Care team such as procedure and operating rooms.
Husbandry and routine maintenance in specialized areas under the oversight of the Veterinary Care team such as Rodent Containment Level 2 or Rodent Chemical Hazards housing, etc.
Perform routine maintenance on veterinary equipment throughout all animal facilities.
Prepare and sterilize veterinary instruments and materials.
Maintain stock of materials for the Veterinary Care team.
Prepare materials for animal workshops and assist with online registration.
Maintain records and perform data entry tasks.
Animal transport.
- Must be available on week end on rotation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•DEC III -- 2 years of related experience
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 3 on a scale of 0-4.

DEC III - Animal Health Technology 2 Years Related Experience /
