Job Summary
The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program provides students with comprehensive training in various areas such as clinical medicine, patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, pharmacology, and surgical procedures. Reporting to the Manager, MPAS program, the Admissions Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day support and coordination of the admissions process including application review, establishment of relevant deadlines, transcript and course prerequisite assessment, determination of applicant eligibility, preparation for interview cycle and communication with applicants throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Greet all visitors to the MPAS office, screen visitors without appointments, use discretion and judgment to answer basic MPAS questions, redirect inquiries to Coordinators as appropriate.
  • Monitor and manage the primary general/admissions MPAS email account and answer inquiries on the program, admissions, and/or delegate as necessary.
  • Determine applicant eligibility (GPA, CASPer, prerequisites, residency requirement, reference letters, etc.); verify information entries, record file decisions in Medix program and Banner 2nd Entry Admission accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate admissions interviews including logistics, interview questions and scoring rubrics, recruitment and training of interviewers, communication with applicants, and all other details for preparation and execution of interviews.
  • Prepare and submit recommendation of admissions packages to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
  • Collaborate with MPAS Assistant Dean and subcommittee chairs to prepare agendas and minutes for program committees. Organize meeting logistics including calendar invites, Teams links and rooms bookings (if necessary) and distribute relevant materials documentation to committee members.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Business/Office Administration program with approximately five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and database systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to organize workload required, as well as the ability to work independently and multi-task in a deadline driven, team environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential student issues with considerable tact.
Assets
  • Experience in a health professional education environment.
  • Knowledge of Brightspace, One45, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of medical education programs and/or academic health care environment would be beneficial.
