NOTE: This competition is limited to current salaried NAIT staff.
Under the general supervision of the Library Help Desk Supervisor, this position supports the Library operations unit, assisting with daily operations within access services, including interlibrary loan services, reviewing fines & fees & following student clearance processes. This position engages in core library services, including fulfillment activities, full-service project printing, and Makerspace services, answering directional and basic information questions, and triaging complex questions. This position also fulfills purchasing and administrative duties for the Library and supports operations by participating in back-end Library software tasks and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs customer service duties, answering directional & specific search questions about library resources & services. Assists borrowers in locating material & provides on-floor technology assistance. Circulates library materials, accepts payments for fines, fees, & services, and provides ID card printing services.
- Identifies and meets full-service project printing and finishing requests and coordinates equipment maintenance.
- Staffs Makerspace Help Desk and runs equipment certification appointments & assists with workshops
- Reviews fines & fees & executes student clearance processes with Cash Office
- Performs resource sharing activities including interlibrary loan & digitization of materials
- Investigates purchase options & orders office & general supplies, items for resale & full-service equipment supplies. Ensures receipt/returns of goods in the NAIT Finance System
- Schedules meetings, books rooms & assists with the help desk schedule
- Adds/edits basic cataloguing records
- Updates webpages, reviews/maintains checklists
- Delivers Library tours and equipment demonstrations
- Initiates service calls for Point of Sale & creates entries for products & services
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient with productivity and design software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud application
- Expertise in using and maintaining project printing & finishing equipment and software. Expertise with the operation, and processes involved with makerspace equipment and software.
- Proficiency in using relevant Library management system processes, back-end and front-facing.
- Applied knowledge of requisition entry, receiving, and general ledger processes in the NAIT Finance system.
- Applied knowledge of Service Now as it relates to library website updates.
- Aptitude for working with a range of equipment and software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well both independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of related customer service methods and techniques.
Qualifications:
- Completion of grade twelve
- 2-year Library and Information Technician diploma
- 1-year of related experience
- Equivalencies may be considered
Remuneration: $44,256.94 - $57,140.72 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Administrative Support IV).
Please Note: The classification for this role is currently under review.
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
