The Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) offers the following position:
Technician, Department Bioinformatics and Mathematical Modelling
Occupation: Full-time
Period: Fixed-term contract, initially one year with the possibility of extensions, probation period of 6 months
Place: Plovdiv, Bulgaria

CPSBB is a newly established research center in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with the financial help of the H2020 project PlantaSYST (Teaming), the Bulgarian Government, and Plovdiv Municipality. CPSBB´s mission is to position itself at the forefront of plant sciences in Bulgaria. This aim will be achieved by building on the research and technological excellence of two German partners: Potsdam University and Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, Potsdam-Golm.
The Bioinformatics Department at CPSBB comprises essential genomics and systems biology-oriented research activities that tie together all experimental biology departments at CPSBB.
We are searching for a research technician at the Bioinformatics department. Primary tasks will include performing services related to bioinformatics analysis of large data sets, including analysis of data from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), metabolomics technologies and integrative network analysis.

Job Requirements:
- MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related fields
- Proven experience in the field of Bioinformatics or Computational Biology
- Background and experience in NGS data analysis (e.g. RNA-seq analysis, genome sequencing)
- Experience in network-based research and plant science is not mandatory but is preferable
- Fluency in English.
Main responsibilities:
- Building a client base for bioinformatics services, including analyses of NGS and metabolomics data sets.
- Analysis of data sets coming from such omics experiments.
