The vision of the Technical University of Sofia is to fulfil its public commitments with a view to establishing it as a leading European scientific research and educational centre in South-eastern Europe in the field of engineering, physical-mathematical and economic sciences.

More than 11 000 students study at TU – Sofia, as 10% are international students from more than 45 countries. The number of engineers who have graduated from the Technical University of Sofia since its creation is over 150 000. A significant number of Bulgarian and international enterprises rely on the graduates of the Technical University of Sofia to provide the necessary engineering personnel.

The aim of the project “TU – Sofia International Recognition and Sustainability through Enhancement of Research and Development Capacity and Quality” is to foster top-quality research in fields of strategic interest, as well as emerging fields, in which the university has the potential to reach high research results and build research capacity. The research-related activities are also aimed at encouraging quality research, creative interdisciplinary thinking, and communicating notable research findings to public audiences – through top journal publications, dialogue, and collaboration across disciplinary boundaries. At the core of TU – Sofia – as a research university – activities lie a new internationally acclaimed Fellowship programme.
