Trainee at Global Innovation Net­work in Teach­ing and Learn­ing (GINTL) co­ordin­a­tion team

Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning (GINTL) is a global pilot network created within the internationalization programme introduced by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture in 2020. The network aims to:

• Co-create research-based solutions to global education challenges.
• Increase meaningful partnerships between 20 GINTL member Higher Education Institutions in Finland and key allies in the network’s target regions.
• Develop new approaches and good practices for sustainable and impactful collaboration.
• Inspire and initiate other concrete internationalisation measures in Finnish Higher Education Institutions.

We are looking for TWO TRAINEES who would work at the Faculty of Educational Sciences. During your traineeship you would be part of the Global Innovation Network in Teaching and Learning (GINTL) coordination team.

The University of Helsinki (UH) Faculty of Educational Sciences coordinates co-operation with African and Chinese Higher Education Institutions, and the University of Jyväskylä (JYU) coordinates co-operation with Indian partners.

The duration of a traineeship is two moths full time starting preferably from October 18th, 2021, to the 15th of December 2021 (two months). The work can also be done on a part-time basis (50%) leaving time for studies as well, but then the length of the internship shall be four months). The salary of full-time trainee is 1400 € per month and 700 € for a part-time (50%) trainee.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Internship 1: Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning: creating online events

Within the University of Helsinki (UH) GINTL coordination team you would work together with the coordinator, director and region specialists to design a webinar series for GINTL network.

Responsibilities:
• Work together with the UH and JYU GINTL coordination teams to conceptualize, plan and create a compelling offering of webinars and other digital materials for one of Finland’s biggest higher education networks and regional partners.
• Shape the event content focus, format, and technical implementation
• Communicate with the GINTL partner institutions in mapping and gathering ideas, interests, and expertise
• Provide general assistance in the preparation of the webinars
• Any other duties as mutually agreed.

Qualifications / Skills:
• Studies in education or other relevant fields, and interest in education themes in global context.
• Good digital skills and interest to improve them
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

The following are considered as assets:
• Experience in delivering virtual events including webinars, webcasts or virtual conferences.
• Experience in building online events and working with different virtual events platforms (such as GoToWebinar, GlobalMeet, Zoom, etc).
• Experience in video production and show management; understanding and vision of what is needed to make great digital video content come to life over the tech platform and channels.

Internship 2: Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning: mapping of global partnerships

You would work closely with the GINTL coordination team in mapping Finnish higher education institutions involvement in international cooperation in the field of education in African continent and in China.

Responsibilities:
• Take part in planning and coordinating a systematic approach to collecting and presenting knowledge and data e.g., in the form of infographics on international partnerships
• Contact partner institutions, set up interviews and conduct data analysis.
• Any other duties as mutually agreed.

Qualifications / Skills:
• Experience in conducting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Good computer skills (especially Microsoft Office tools).
• Good team working skills, flexibility, precision as well as a pro-active and independent attitude are appreciated.

The following are considered as assets:
• Knowledge of Finnish higher education institutions and their international partnerships
• Data visualization skills
• Previous experience in updating websites
