The Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science has the following parttime (10%) vacancy:

teaching assistant in the field of physics

Position

As a teaching assistant, you will be part of the Academic Assistant Staff (Dutch: Assisterend Academisch Personeel, AAP). Your main focus will be on supporting practice-based teaching. In addition, you will actively contribute to service activities.

Education

  • You will assist in and also teach practice-based programme components the field of Physics to students for which the Physics Departement organizes courses.
  • You contribute to an activating, student centred and competence based education.
  • You will supervise students during the exercises, correct the reports and exams, and give feedback to the students on their reports.

Services 

  • You will play an active role in the academic and societal service provision of the Department of Physics.

Profile

  • You hold a Master degree in Physics or you will have obtained it by the time you start work, or obtained a master’s degree in a different exact or applied science, and have, in addition, experience in teaching physics.
  • Experience in physics education is a significant plus.
  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision .
  • You take a student-focused approach and you activate student learning.
  • You can demonstrate good communication skills and you are able to get complex information across clearly.
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.

What we offer

  • We offer an appointment as a teaching assistant for a period of 9 months. Following a positive evaluation, the appointment can be renewed.
  • Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale for an assistant (Academic Assistant Staff, AAP). If you work part time, your salary is calculated proportionally on the basis of your employment percentage.
  • The planned start date is January 1st 2022.
  • You will do most of your work at Campus Groenenborger in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
