YOUR TASKS

  • You will assist in the practice-based teaching at the department (i.e. organization, counselling and assessment of practical exercises and seminars), specifically the English-language operation of the migration branch of the course Human Rights and Migration Law Clinic.
  • You provide guidance to master theses or LLM theses in the field of migration law.
  • You contribute to the service delivery of the department.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a degree of Master in Law or an equivalent degree. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching in the Human Rights and Migration Law Clinic, for instance as a lawyer or an NGO staff member, and/or you have experience with a legal clinic or a comparable initiative.
  • You have a thorough and demonstrable knowledge of migration law.
  • A specialization in European and international migration law is recommended.
  • Familiarity with human rights law is recommended.
  • You are interested in a teaching assignment in the field concerned.
  • You are interested in academic and/or project-based research and services.
  • Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended.
  • You have an excellent active and passive (written and spoken) knowledge of English.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a one-year appointment. Attention : You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University.
  • Your appointment will start on 1 September 2021 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales .
