Job content

The Transportation Research Institute (IMOB) is an innovative research center of Hasselt University. We work on sustainable solutions for today's transportation and traffic safety issues. Innovation is always linked to the potential for social and economic valorization.

IMOB is looking for a technologically skilled person to do research on innovative applications in transportation, and also to implement and help valorize them. You will help develop project proposals to acquire funding to achieve this. You have a demonstrable interest in the valorization of research results. You work on international projects.

Specifically, you will work on the following topics:

IMOB conducts research on image processing techniques for applications within the field of traffic safety. You will be responsible for the implementation of image processing algorithms for the automatic detection and classification of road users for traffic flow and traffic safety analyses. The images can be from fixed cameras or drones in the public domain. Your work will lead to increasing road safety for weak road users, among others.

IMOB coordinates a large European project (the i-DREAMS project) in which hardware and software were developed that monitor the condition of the driver and the environment. With this technology we can increase traffic safety and sustainability. There are also financial benefits for companies that manage a fleet. You participate in the (international) valorization of the i-DREAMS project results, for example in collaboration with IMOB's contacts in Vietnam.
