The Department of Electromechanical Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Engineering is looking for a full-time (100%) researcher in the field of industrial wireless power applications.
Position
- You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis in Applied Engineering. The project focuses on low power capacitive wireless power transfer for industrial applications. Examples include wireless charging of IoT sensors, drones and mobile devices. The goals of this project are (1) to optimize a wireless charging system with multiple receivers; (2) to design a capacitive wireless power transfer system for rotational applications, e.g., sensors on a rotational axis. Under supervision, you will theoretically analyse the system, perform simulations and build a low-power measurement setup.
- You will carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for the Department of Electromechanical Engineering.
Profile
- You hold a Master degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, ICT Engineering, Physics or similar, or you will have obtained it by the time you start work.
- You can demonstrate excellent study results.

- You have good written and spoken communication skills. You can speak and write fluently in English.
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
- Experience in analogue electronics is considered an asset.
What we offer
- We offer a contract as a researcher for a period of two years.
- The planned start date is 1 October 2024 or as soon as possible after that date.
- Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale for an assistant in the Contract Research Staff category (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
- You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
- You will do most of your work at Campus Groenenborger in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
