The group is involved in several large scale sequencing projects.  We are applying whole genome short and long read sequencing to identify the causes of rare diseases and leveraging genomic medicine.  The project involves leading the Bio IT aspects of prospective multicentric randomized trial to diagnose rare diseases in Belgium (BESolveRD, https://beshg.be/workgroups/besolverd ); the long read sequencing efforts to map rare diseases; efforts aimed at sequencing over 10k individuals to build the Belgian Genome Biobank and participation in the European 1million genome project (1+MG).
We have onsite access to state-of-the-art facilities, including single cell analysis platforms, Flow cytometry, High-Throughput Sequencing (Illumina, PacBio and ONT), Bioinformatics, Imaging, high-capacity computing and others. You will be embedded within the KU Leuven Genomics Core facility (https://www.genomicscore.be/ ), the largest sequencing facility in Belgium, which offers a broad portfolio of NGS techniques for academic labs, companies, and hospitals. The earliest start date of the position is August 1st, 2022. We offer a 3-year position on a competitive salary, pending positive evaluation after 1 year.
