Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 14 Sep 2020

You will develop a research programme on an international level and with a focus on industrial relevance. On Campus Geel there are opportunities from the industrial network in the sector of thermal energy systems and in the food industry, agriculture and horticulture. An interest in these application areas is considered a plus, but other application areas within the field of mechanical engineering and/or mechatronics are certainly also eligible for this position in view of the broad expansion of Geel Campus. At least one additional professor will be recruited for this research group in the near future.

In your research, you will creatively integrate new insights and research results from various fields of engineering. You pay attention to the valorisation of your research results for government and industry. You publish in international journals and professional literature and supervise doctoral students.

You provide high-quality education to both Bachelor and Master students within the domain of mechanical engineering, with a clear commitment to the quality of the programme as a whole. All professors are also expected to teach a number of basic subjects.

You contribute to the faculty’s and the university’s pedagogical project through the supervision of student projects (for example bachelor’s and master’s theses) and by acting as a promotor of PhD students.

You develop your teaching in accordance with KU Leuven’s views on activating and researched-based education. You make use of the possibilities for educational professionalisation offered by the faculty and the university.
