More concretely your work package contains: 

Education and Research domain:

You will join the Cartography and GIS Research Group (CGIS ). Research activities at CGIS focus on the study of human-environment interaction in both urban and non-urban environments using geospatial and earth observation based monitoring and modelling approaches.

Attention goes to spatial analysis of urban areas as socio-ecological systems, with emphasis on the role of green and blue infrastructure and its impact on urban quality of life.

Another research line focuses on monitoring of natural and anthropogenic drivers of land surface processes in densely populated areas, using multi-source remote sensing approaches. 

Education tasks:

  • Your educational tasks may involve the (co-)supervision of master’s theses (MSc Geography, MSc Urban Studies) and bachelor’s theses (BSc Geography).
  • Depending on your profile opportunities also exist for (co-)teaching existing course units within the mentioned programmes.

Research tasks:

  • You will strengthen the research capacity of the CGIS group, primarily by bringing in new or complementary research expertise.
  • You are expected to generate quality research output, (co-)supervise PhD researchers, and apply for research funding at relevant levels (Brussels, Flemish, Belgian, EU).

For this function, our Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering Campus (Elsene) will serve as your home base.
